Agartala, Oct 01: Inauguration of ‘TGB on Wheels’ by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at Itanagar on Tuesday marked another successful initiative of Tripura Gramin Bank.
This initiative of Tripura Gramin Bank (TGB) offers a mobile ATM and banking services, fully powered by solar energy, providing financial services to remote and underserved regions.
The project, launched with the support of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), is part of TGB’s broader efforts to enhance financial inclusion and support rural banking.
In addition to the launch of "TGB on Wheels," several other programmes were held.
These included a credit outreach initiative, the distribution of sanction letters to beneficiaries, and the introduction of the Micro Enterprise Promotion Program (MEPP) in two districts of Arunachal Pradesh.
The event also featured the inauguration of various financial inclusion projects, including rural innovation and farm sector development initiatives. Additionally, ambulances and vehicles, donated by PNB, SBI, NABARD, and SIDBI, were flagged off to support healthcare and financial services in the region.
Earlier on Monday, a review meeting of the seven Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) in the northeastern region, was held at the Civil Secretariat Conference Hall in Itanagar.
The review was chaired by the Union Finance Minister, with key officials in attendance, including M. Nagaraju, Secretary of DFS, Atul Kumar Goel, MD & CEO of PNB, Shaji K V, Chairman of NABARD, C.S Setty, Chairman of SBI, Apurba Roy, Secretary of Finance, Govt of Tripura, and Sateendra Singh, Chairman of Tripura Gramin Bank, along with other notable dignitaries.
