Union Minister approves establishment of FCI Regional Office in Agartala

Agartala, Dec 28: Union Minister for Food, Civil Supplies, and Public Distribution, Prahlad Joshi has given approval for establishment of regional office of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) in Agartala.
The approval was given in a review meeting that was chaired by the Union Minister, in the presence of Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, Agriculture minister Ratanlal Nath, Food minister Sushanta Chowdhury and top officials in Agartala on Saturday.
It was decided during the meeting that the State Government would allocate the necessary land for setting up the proposed facility in Agartala, and a project proposal for the same would be sent to the Union Ministry.
The Union Minister reviewed the key central scheme in the state. He expressed satisfaction over the development initiatives undertaken by Dr Manik Saha-led government.
The Union Minister emphasized the Central Government's priority for the development of the North Eastern region.
"The work that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is doing for the development of the Northeast has not been done in the last 75 years. I will discuss all the issues raised by various departments on behalf of the state with the concerned ministry," he said.
