Agartala, July 12: Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Arjun Munda appreciated the efforts made by Biplab Kumar Deb-led Tripura Government for the overall development of Janajati people.
He was speaking to the media after taking a review of the Tribal welfare in Agartala on Monday.
He held the review meeting with the state Tribal Welfare minister Mevar Kumar Jamatia and the officials concerned.

The union minister took a thorough review of the central schemes being implemented in the state for the welfare of Janajati people.
“In the review meeting, various schemes introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government for the welfare of Janajati people and their implementation in the state have been discussed. I am happy to share that the Tripura government is working very well to ensure the development of Janajati people,” Munda told the media.
He also assured that the central government would extend all possible support to Tripura for implementing the schemes meant for tribal welfare.
According to Munda, there were discussions on development of tradition, culture and education of the Janajati people.
“A campaign on a new education plan is going on across the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to ensure quality education for tribal/ adhivasi students at the highest level following which we brought changes in the model and initiated efforts to upgrade the Ekalavya model schools in the states. The matter has already been discussed with the states and the work is being done keeping the suggestions put by the states in view,” Munda said.
The union minister also pointed out that Tripura was given 15 new residential schools over the past two years—earlier the number of residential schools in the state was less.
The Union Minister then visited Mata Tripura Sundari Temple in Udaipur and also inspected Van Dhan Kendra in the Gomati district.
Meanwhile, Munda was received by MP Rebati Tripura, Tribal Welfare minister Mevar Kumar Jamatia and others at Maharaja Bir Bikram airport on Monday.
Later in the evening, he met with outgoing Governor Ramesh Bais as well as Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb.
During his meeting with Deb, the central minister held discussions on implementation of various schemes meant for the Janajati development.
