Agartala, May 28: The socio-economic condition of tribal communities across the country is improving rapidly under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Durgadas Uikey on Thursday.
He said this after reviewing the implementation of various central government schemes in Tripura’s Unakoti district.
The review meeting was held at Kailashahar, where the minister discussed the progress and implementation of several flagship schemes, including Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, PM Vishwakarma, PM Janman, PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, Soil Health Card and Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.
Among those present at the meeting were Unakoti Zilla Sabhadhipati Amlendu Das, MLA Birajit Sinha and Unakoti District Magistrate Megha Jain, along with other officials.
Later, the Union Minister held discussions with tribal leaders of the district at the Kailashahar Circuit House. He also visited an incense stick manufacturing unit run under the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission at Dakshin Unakoti ADC Village in Kumarghat sub-division.
During his visit to Kuma
rghat block headquarters, Uikey inspected a rainwater harvesting centre, a Panchayat Resource Centre and a marketing outlet showcasing products manufactured under the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM). He also interacted with women associated with self-help groups and reviewed their activities.
The minister further visited the Eklavya Model Residential School at Kumarghat, where he interacted with residential students, parents and teachers regarding academic activities and infrastructure.
Addressing the gathering, Uikey said the central government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has been giving special emphasis to the holistic development of tribal communities, resulting in rapid socio-economic progress among tribal populations across the country.
During his visit to the district, the Union minister also inspected the historic Unakoti archaeological site and took stock of its architectural and sculptural heritage. Officials briefed him on the historical significance of this ancient site.
