Ri-Bhoi, Meghalaya | Sept 26: The three-day All India Law Graduate Conclave 2026, organised by the University School of Law & Research, University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM), concluded today with a grand Valedictory and Prize Distribution Ceremony at USTM's Central Auditorium.

The concluding ceremony was graced by Justice B. R. Gavai, Former Chief Justice of India, and Justice Revati Mohite Dere, Chief Justice of the High Court of Meghalaya.

The event was also attended by Mahbubul Hoque, Chancellor, USTM; Justice (Retd.) B. P. Katakey, Former Judge, Gauhati High Court; Angshuman Bora, Senior Advocate and President, Gauhati High Court Bar Association; Bhaskar Jyoti Phukan, Managing Director, NRL; Dr Bijoy A. Sangma, Member, Meghalaya State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission; and Prof. (Dr.) Amal Chandra Kataki, Director, Medical Administration, P.A. Sangma International Medical College & Hospital, among other distinguished guests.

Prof. G. D. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, USTM, delivered the welcome address, while Prof. Subhram Rajkhowa, Professor Emeritus, USTM, presented a report on the All-India Law Graduate Conclave.

Justice Revati Mohite Dere, Chief Justice of the High Court of Meghalaya, delivered the keynote address, followed by the Chief Guest Address by Justice B. R. Gavai, Former Chief Justice of India.

The three-day conclave provided a competitive and academic platform for law students to demonstrate their legal knowledge, research skills, analytical abilities, advocacy, public speaking and practical understanding of law. The competitions organised as part of the conclave included the Moot Court Competition, National Debate Competition, Law Quiz, Crime Scene Investigation Competition, Judgment Writing Competition and Extempore Speech Competition.

The Prize Distribution Ceremony recognised outstanding performances across the various competitions.

In the Moot Court Competition, University Law College, Gauhati University, represented by Dishamoni Deka, Adishree Hazarika and Anju Devi, emerged as the Winner and received a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh. NEF Law College, represented by Stuti Pradhan, Kuldeep Bhattacharjya and Alokesh Mandal, secured the Runner-up position with a cash prize of Rs. 50,000. 

Harshita Sai Lakshmi of National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam, was adjudged Best Researcher and received Rs. 10,000, while Dishamoni Deka of University Law College, Gauhati University, received the Best Speaker Award carrying Rs. 15,000. The Best Memorial Award went to North Eastern Hill University, represented by Rashmi Rekha Boruah, Gaurav Bharali and Kessica Thapa, with a cash prize of Rs. 15,000.

In the National Debate Competition, the winning team comprising Partha Sarathi Gogoi and Kripanjali Sarma of NEF Law College, Gauhati University, was awarded the cash prize for the winning position. Agastya Kashyap of JB Law College received the Best Speaker Award, while Tonmoy Sarma of Nerim Law College and Ishika Das of University Law College, Gauhati University, received the 2nd and 3rd Best Speaker Awards respectively.

In the Law Quiz, Shri Shrijan Sharma and Eshan Arup Borkotoky of JB Law College emerged as winners. Nishikesh Parashar and Mushadika Sultana of Nerim Law College secured the first runner-up position, while Tushar Azad and Sashank K. Shukla of National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam, were declared second runners-up.

In the Crime Scene Investigation Competition, Samrat Choudhury and Roanit Sharma of Dispur Law College emerged as winners. Dolma Mazumdar and Arifan Nahar of BRM Law College secured the first runner-up position, while Pinaj Rafi and Nitu Nath of JB Law College were declared second runners-up.

In the Judgment Writing Competition, Nidhi Sonware of Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur, emerged as the winner. Aradhya Lunia Kashyap of Dispur Law College secured the first runner-up position, while Mohit Singh of Assam University, Silchar, was declared second runner-up.

In the Extempore Speech Competition, Habiba Afrin Choudhary of JB Law College emerged as the winner. Hrishikesh Upadhyay of Nowgong Law College secured the first runner-up position, while Archita Garg of USTM was declared second runner-up.

The conclave concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Padma Shri Dr S. Sahariah, Pro Vice Chancellor, USTM.

The All-India Law Graduate Conclave 2026 provided an enriching platform for legal education, intellectual engagement and healthy competitions.
