Vandalism in Kali Temple sparks unrest

Agartala, Aug 25: A sense of unrest gripped the Kaiturbari area under the jurisdiction of Ranirbazar police station on Sunday night after an idol of Goddess Kali was found defaced.

The situation quickly escalated, resulting in violent clashes leading to heightened tensions between two local communities.

In the aftermath, several houses were reportedly set on fire, and multiple vehicles were torched, further intensifying the atmosphere of fear and unrest in the area.

Minister for Tourism Sushanta Chowdhury rushed to the scene to de-escalate the situation. His prompt intervention was aimed at restoring peace and preventing further unrest.

In response to the volatile circumstances, a significant deployment of security forces was made to prevent any further untoward incident.

Despite the presence of security personnel, the situation remains tense, with authorities on high alert to avoid any further escalation.
