Workshop focuses on Mental Health, Drug Abuse Prevention and Child Development

Agartala, June 17: A two-day workshop on adolescent health, child marriage prevention, mental health, drug addiction and its prevention, foundational learning, language development, mentoring, and LGBTQIA+ inclusion began at Pragna Bhawan in Agartala on Wednesday. 

The workshop, organized by the West Tripura District Mission Management Unit (DMMU), Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM), in collaboration with SWABHIMAAN, has brought together government officials, educators, field-level functionaries, development partners, and other stakeholders to discuss critical issues affecting children, adolescents, and young people. 

The sessions are aimed at enhancing awareness, strengthening institutional capacity, and promoting a holistic understanding of challenges related to adolescent well-being, mental health, child marriage, substance abuse, foundational literacy, language development, mentorship, and social inclusion. 

Experts and resource persons are conducting a series of interactive sessions designed to encourage knowledge-sharing and foster coordinated action among stakeholders. Discussions are focusing on creating a safe, healthy, inclusive, and enabling environment for children and adolescents. 

Participants are also exploring strategies to strengthen support systems for young people through improved educational outcomes, mental health interventions, child protection measures, and community engagement. 

Officials said the workshop reflects the continued commitment of the government and the West Tripura District Administration towards child protection, youth empowerment, educational development, and social inclusion.  

The initiative is expected to equip participants with practical tools and insights that can be applied at the grassroots level to address emerging social and developmental challenges. 

The workshop will conclude on Thursday with further deliberations and thematic sessions involving experts and stakeholders from various sectors.
