Agartala, June 01: The Mid-Term Review (MTR) Mission of the World Bank for the Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project (TRESP) commenced today with a high-level Kick-off Meeting held at Hall No. 4, Pragya Bhavan, Agartala.
The meeting was attended by Dr. K. Sashikumar, IFS, Secretary, Tribal Welfare Department; Subhasis Das, Director; World Bank Task Team Leader Priti Kumar; and members of the World Bank mission representing key sectors including livelihoods, roads, buildings, education, and finance.
Senior officials from seven line departments, programme managers from various Project Implementation Units (PIUs), and representatives of support agencies also participated in the review.
Gajendra Verma, Chief Operating Officer, TRESP, presented a comprehensive overview of the project's achievements and progress across all verticals under TRESP. The presentation highlighted significant strides made in strengthening rural livelihoods, improving service delivery systems, and promoting inclusive economic growth in tribal areas of Tripura.
During the interactive session, Priti Kumar engaged directly with officials from the Public Works Department, Fisheries, Agriculture, and Animal Resources Development sectors. The discussions focused on current implementation status, operational experiences, and opportunities for further strengthening project outcomes. Departmental officials shared valuable insights on field-level progress and innovative approaches adopted to address implementation challenges.
The meeting reflected a shared commitment between the Government of Tripura and the World Bank to accelerate progress towards achieving the project's development objectives. Deliberations emphasized strategic planning, effective coordination, and timely decision-making to ensure successful completion of project milestones.
Over the coming days, the World Bank Mission will undertake a series of detailed review meetings and field visits across districts, blocks, and villages to assess ground-level implementation and interact with stakeholders. The mission is expected to provide valuable guidance and recommendations that will further strengthen project execution and enhance the impact of TRESP on rural communities across the state.
The visit marks an important milestone in the project's journey, reaffirming the collective vision of transforming livelihoods, improving service delivery, and creating sustainable economic opportunities for tribal communities in Tripura.
