Yaba tablets worth Rs. 60 lakh seized in Tripura

Agartala, Aug 21: In a major breakthrough in the on-going crackdown against drug trafficking, Tripura Police uncovered a massive stash of narcotics during a raid at a residence in the Matinagar area on Thursday, seizing 40,000 Yaba tablets.

Acting on tip-off, a police team led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Amtali, Parmita Pandey, conducted the raid in the presence of a deputy magistrate.

The tablets worth Rs. 60 lakh were found concealed in a locked room of the house, the SDPO said.

Authorities have launched a manhunt for the property owner, who remains on the run following the discovery.

This raid follows another recent success by Amtali police, who intercepted an auto-rickshaw on the Khayerpur-Amtali bypass and recovered 90,000 Yaba tablets. One suspect was arrested at the scene, with another taken into custody during a follow-up operation.

Both operations are considered significant milestones in the anti-drug efforts led by Officer-in-Charge Paritosh Das and SDPO Parmita Pandey, signaling a tougher stance by local law enforcement on narcotics-related activities.
