In a significant step toward environmental preservation, a Tree Plantation and Environmental Awareness Programme was held at Janmajoy Nagar HS School, Belbari, West Tripura.
The event was jointly organized by Yuva Vikash Kendra (YVK) in collaboration with the Tripura State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB) under the thoughtful and heart-touching theme, "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam"—a tribute to the nurturing spirit of mothers through nature.
This collaborative event aimed not just to plant trees but to plant awareness, hope, and a sense of responsibility among the youth and the wider community.
The programme was honored by the presence of several dignitaries who added great value to the event with their inspiring words and support.
Among them were Abhijit Das (Information Officer, TSPCB), Antara Chaudhury (IT Officer, TSPCB), Debasish Debbarma (Sub Zonal Chairman, TTAADC), Subal Chandra Das (Headmaster of the host school), and senior representatives from YVK— Debashis Majumder (President), Pinku Das (Organizing Secretary), and Pratima Debbarma (Secretary).
Each guest shared insights on the importance of environmental stewardship, the role of youth in conservation, and how community-driven initiatives can bring lasting impact.
The programme commenced with an engaging awareness session that emphasized the critical need for environmental protection in the face of rising ecological challenges.
The discussion focused on sustainable living, climate change, and the proactive role young individuals can play in safeguarding nature.
The event also served as a platform to celebrate World Environment Day, reinforcing the message that each individual has a role to play in nurturing our planet.
In the most heartfelt segment of the day, a tree plantation drive was organised within the school campus. Under the theme "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam", participants planted saplings of various fruit-bearing trees such as Red Apple Beer, Mango, Lichi, and Amloki. These were not just symbolic gestures but a practical step toward creating a greener environment and a source of future nourishment for the school and local community.
The theme underscored the deep connection between nurturing mothers and nurturing nature—both life-givers in their own right.
What made the event truly special was the enthusiastic participation of the students, teachers, and community members, who came together to make the programme a resounding success.
The energy and commitment displayed by the youth reflected a collective will to work towards a sustainable future. This active involvement also instilled a sense of environmental responsibility among the students, empowering them to become future guardians of the planet.
The Tree Plantation and Awareness Programme at Janmajoy Nagar HS School concluded on a hopeful note, with a shared vision of creating healthier surroundings and fostering environmental consciousness in young minds.
The collaborative efforts of YVK, TSPCB, and the school community not only enriched the school’s green cover but also planted seeds of awareness and commitment that will continue to grow for years to come.
