Agartala, July 23: Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Ratan Lal Nath on Thursday emphasized reaching the benefits of government projects to the people of remote areas of the district quickly and transparently.

Nath, who has been entrusted as ‘Guardian Minister’ to look after development works at Dhalai district, chaired a review meeting. He became the first ‘Guardian Minister’ to hold such a meeting.

The meeting was held in Ambassa in the presence of Dhalai Zilla Sabhadhipati Susmita Das, Dhalai District Magistrate Vivek HB along with MLAs, MDCs, public representatives and officials.

Later, the Minister said, “In our state, the government is running under the leadership of Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, and many development works are underway across the state, including in Dhalai district. The government is thinking that as we are carrying out sufficient development works, we should implement and complete these development works as soon as possible so that we can take up more new projects. That is why Guardian Ministers have been assigned for each and every district, and I have been entrusted with the responsibility of Dhalai district. Today, the first meeting was held, which was called by the Dhalai District Magistrate.”

He said that Jal Jeevan Mission, road connectivity, VB-GRAM-G Scheme, and other issues were discussed.

“We are also taking information from the concerned officers and asking MLAs, MDCs whether the information provided is correct or not. Some decisions were taken on the spot, which have to be completed by tomorrow, and I will also take feedback. Keeping in mind the importance of Chawmanu, Gandatwisa, and other rural areas, as well as urban local bodies, emphasis has been given to implementing works as soon as possible. Work under centrally sponsored schemes is underway at full speed, but I have directed officials to speed up the work further to complete the projects. Priority will be given to works while maintaining contact with MLAs and taking feedback from the public and public representatives,” said the Minister.

The Minister said that the main goals are to achieve financial self-reliance, create employment opportunities, and create a conducive environment for development.

“Along with improving the quality of education and health services, special importance has been given to the development of drinking water facilities, agriculture, infrastructure, electricity services, and public services. Emphasis has been placed on reaching the benefits of government projects to the people of remote areas of the district quickly and transparently,” he added.
