‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’: 59 Amrit Kalas from Tripura to reach Delhi

Agartala, Aug 07: As part of ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ campaign, 59 Amrit Kalas—one each from 58 blocks of Tripura and one from Agartala Municipal Corporation—would reach Kartavya Path in Delhi for the main event.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Monday held a meeting and reviewed the preparations for the campaign that will continue from August 9 to 30 next.
Secretary of Information and Cultural Affairs department Dr. P.K. Chakraborty informed the Chief Minister that two Amrit Kalas carrying soil from 58 blocks each (total 116) and two from Agartala Municipal Corporation would be taken to Agartala.
He said, an Amrit Batika would be created in Agartala with the soil collected in 59 Amrit Kalas and the remaining 59 Amrit Kalas would be taken by the state’s youths to Delhi on the same day.
A total of 7500 representatives from all blocks would reach Delhi by August 27 and 28 next. The soil collected in the Amrit Kalas from across the country would be used in creating ‘Amrit Van’ in honor of the martyred freedom fighters, soldiers, and policemen. Prime Minister Narendra Modi would take part in the main event.
Minister for Cooperative Shukla Charan Noatia, MLA Pramod Reang, MLA Ranjit Das, MLA Kishore Barman, MLA Antara Sarkar Deb, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, other officials and District Magistrates of all eight districts were present in the meeting.
